Bridging the gap between the academic and performing arts communities through dynamic public programs and digital initiatives that are free and open to all.
From October 12-November 10, 2014, the Los Angeles Theatre Center will host the historic 2014 LATC Encuentro: A National Latina/o Theatre Festival, the largest National Latina/o Festival in over twenty-five years. The Encuentro will explore the multi-faceted Latina/o experience on stage by featuring Pulitzer Prize winning plays, English and Spanish language productions, devised theater, experimental work, ensemble-based, and solo shows. Artists from companies such as INTAR, Theater Mitu, Caborca Theatre, Pregones and Teatro Luna will also work together during the month-long residency sharing creative methodologies in artistic workshops that will culminate in a public performance of the co-created new work.
The Segal is thrilled to join with Latina/o Theatre Commons and partners throughout the country on November 10th as we simultaneously screen (and live tweet!) this landmark co-created performance, followed by a discussion with New York-based artists.
Presented in partnership with LATC 2014 Encuentro, and the Latina/o Theatre Commons (LTC).
