Join us for an afternoon of presentations on contemporary Czech, Slovak, Hungarian and Polish theater. Focusing on the youngest generation of Central European theatre-makers, the event will feature talks about the current icons of Central Europe, the new performing arts scene in Slovakia, the political history and new aesthetics in the Hungarian theater, and the memory of the Holocaust in contemporary Polish theater. The presentations will be bookended with excerpted readings from Poker Face by Petr Kolečko (Czech Republic) and The Mayor II by Małgorzata Sikorska-Miszczuk (Poland), directed by Sarah Stites, followed by a discussion with the presenters.

Presented by The Martin E. Segal Theatre Center and PACE.V4 (Performing Arts Central Europe, Visegrad Countries Focus; Arts and Theatre Institute, Prague; Adam Mickiewicz Institute, Warsaw, Poland; Theatre Institute, Bratislava, Slovakia; Hungarian Theatre Museum and Institute, Budapest, Hungary; and Dialog Magazine, Poland.)
