PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO HURRICANE SANDY!

The artists behind the already legendary Berlin-based artists’ collective Rimini Protokoll—Helgard Haug, Stefan Kaegi, and Daniel Wetzel—join us for an evening retrospective of their cutting-edge performance work. Straddling reality and fiction, Rimini Protokoll creates participatory documentary theatre experiences in which the actual subjects tell their own stories, voice their own opinions, and illustrate their own circumstances. The prolific collective’s work is truly international and often commissioned by major festivals in Europe and elsewhere; recent topics include Egyptian muezzin resisting the consolidation of their profession (Radio Muezzin), Athenians grappling with the Greek economic crisis (Prometheus in Athens); and jet-setting children of corporate executives who feel most at home while in transit (Airport Kids). Afternoon film screenings of recent major works (Wahl Kampf Wallenstein, Prometheus in Athens, the 100% series) will be followed by an evening conversation between the artists of Rimini Protokoll and noted participatory performance scholar Claire Bishop (CUNY Graduate Center), moderated by Frank Hentschker. Co-Presented with The Graduate Center’s James Gallery and Center for the Humanities.
