Harold Pinter in Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape Screening and Panel
Segal TheaterEngland’s great modern playwright Harold Pinter performed a stunning interpretation of Samuel Beckett’s one-man play, Krapp’s Last Tape, at the Royal Court Theatre in London in 2007. Join us for a screening of the BBC film of that performance, followed by a panel discussion featuring actor and director Matthew Burton, director of the film Working with Pinter, and playwright John Guare, among others.
Keen Company(NY): on Thorton Wilder
Segal TheaterChallenging the irony pervasive in contemporary popular culture, Keen Company, led by Artistic Director Carl Forsman, produces “sincere plays” that are “unafraid of emotional candor, vulnerability, and optimism.” Mr. Forsman takes the stage for a discussion of Keen’s unique approach to theatre, including the company’s take on the short plays of Thornton Wilder.

Elebash Recital HallJoin us for an evening of Polish Futurist theatre, poetry, manifestoes, and art centered upon a 30-minute contemporary performance piece based on excerpts from Bruno Jasieński's avant-garde play Mannequins' Ball (1930), conceived and directed by American/British theatre director and choreographer Allison Troup-Jensen and her COUNTERPOINT theatre company in collaboration with Samantha Sleeper and David Destefano, alumni fashion designers from Parsons New School of Design.

Segal TheaterThe Martin E. Segal Theatre Center's Publication Wing presents its latest book project: Playwrights Before the Fall: Eastern European Drama in Times of Revolution. The anthology, edited by Daniel Gerould with a preface by Dragan Klaić, is the first multi-author international anthology of Eastern European plays to appear in English.

New Russian Drama: Olga Mukhina’s Tanya-Tanya
Segal TheaterU.S. playwright Kate Moira Ryan has adapted Tanya-Tanya, a major play by Russian playwright Olga Mukhina. Mukhina’s deeply personal plays have been produced throughout Russia and Europe since the 1990s, with Flying, her most recent play, about to be released as a major motion picture in Russia.
Celebrating the Life and Work of Pina Bausch
Segal TheaterPlease join us for a tribute to Bausch, with an afternoon of films of her work, followed by a discussion on Bausch's impact across the arts with special guests from the theatre and dance worlds, including dance critic Anna Kisselgoff and director/choreographer Annie-B Parson . The Yiddish King Lear (1935) – Screening
Segal TheaterThe Yiddish King Lear (Der Yidisher Kenig Lir), a 1935 film directed by Harry Thomashefsky, is based on Jacob Gord0n's famous play, which transposes the Shakespeare story to turn-of-the-century Jewish Vilna.
