About the event

Greek Tragedy Today: Trojan Women

Monday, Nov 9th, 6:30 pm

In 2020, Joel Christensen and Paul O'Mahony helped create the RGTO Reading Greek Tragedy Online series. Working with artists and academics from around the world they staged a different Greek tragedy every week, as well as episodes dedicated to epic poetry and Greek comedy. They explored how ancient drama could address communities’ experiences and suffering, and how performing together creates bonds of fellowship and shared understanding. Their work has subsequently continued in numerous projects across the US, UK and beyond.

This is their New York debut, performing scenes from Euripides’ Trojan Women with actors from the Reading Greek Tragedy Online ensemble, and introducing their latest collaboration - an adaptation of Homer’s Iliad 6. With Joel Christensen and Paul O'Mahony, and New York actors. Talk moderated by Frank Hentschker.
