Join lighting artist Jennifer Tipton and sound artist Eric Sluyter for an evening focused on their work including the upcoming Wooster Group production L.S.D. (...just the high points…) Renovation, scheduled for January 2027 in New York. Jennifer Tipton, internationally recognized for her work in theater, opera and dance, has long been  regarded as one of the most versatile lighting artists in the field. Eric Sluyter, composer and sound artist, has scored and mixed all of the Wooster Group’s stage and media pieces since 2015. Tipton and Sluyter will illuminate how the Group’s current company uses modern technology to bring the past into the present.

The Wooster Group’s L.S.D. (...just the high points…) Renovation is a new work built on the Group’s 1980s production, a piece that redefined the boundaries of the form and pushed theater into entirely new territory.  Wooster Group Company members Kate Valk and Ari Fliakos will join the Q&A. Moderated by Frank Hentschker.

Jennifer Tipton (Lighting Designer) is well known for her lighting for theater, opera and dance.  Her recent work in theater includes the British tour of  TO KILL A MOCKINGBIRD, Beckett's FIRST LOVE for ZOOM and all of Richard Nelson’s Rhinebeck plays.  Her recent work in opera includes Ricky Ian Gordon's INTIMATE APPAREL with libretto by Lynne Nottage, based on her play by the same name, at the Lincoln Center Mitzi Newhouse Theater; her recent work in dance includes Helen Pickett’s CRIME AND PUNISHMENT for American Ballet Theater.  Among many awards she has received the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize in 2001, the Jerome Robbins Prize in 2003 and in 2008 she was awarded the USA “Gracie” Fellowship and a MacArthur Fellowship.  She has lit Paul Taylor dances since her beginning in light.

Eric Sluyter is a New York-based sound artist and composer. His work intricately collages disparate sonic material into living sculpture. He is deeply interested in relationships in time, recording as memory, when language becomes music and vice versa. His compositions utilize electronic music and sampling techniques to alter and blend recordings. As a member of The Wooster Group, he has scored and mixed all the company's stage and media pieces since 2015, creating soundscapes that blend past and present, musical environments that intertwine with text. He has also collaborated on theater, film, sound, and installation pieces with Jill Magid, Daniel Fish, Amir ElSaffar, Julian Koster, Wallace Shawn and Andrè Gregory, Bruce Odland, and INVIVIA, among others.
