About the event
Sticky Situations : Bodies / Pleasures / Perturbations
Thursday, Nov 19th, 9:00 AM to 6:30 PM
The GC CUNY Student DTSA Conference, co- presented by The Segal Theatre Center, examines how theatre and performance studies engage artistic, scholarly, and methodological entanglements to reckon with the messy present. STICKY SITUATIONS: Bodies / Pleasures / Perturbations examins ticky situations colloquially signify those awkward, sensitive, or altogether “cringe” encounters that we typically do our best to avoid. What happens though when we refuse to circumnavigate such events and instead move directly into their mess? Put another way, what happens when we purposefully choose to get stuck? The theatre student conference asks scholars to reflect on how the field of Theatre and Performance Studies engages a wide range of artistic, scholarly, and methodological entanglements that encourage us to reckon with the messy in the here and now.
