ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE

Blasted is Sarah Kane's first play. Set inside an actual hotel room, this production explores her use of musical formalism, as well as her author's note that “stage directions in brackets () function as lines.”

Audience Advisory: This performance excerpt contains mature and distressing themes, including sexual violence, racist language, and depictions of extreme and graphic violence. The production includes the use of prop firearms. This piece is not appropriate for children.

ABOUT THE ARTIST(S):

Katiana Rangel
Katiana Gonçales Rangel is a performer, director and educator from Brazil based in NYC. Recent works include Documents Perform 2 & 3 (2026), Nannies of NYC (2025), Ama The Diver (2024), Graceland (2022) and The Vessel (2021). Main collaborators are Jim Fletcher, Richard Maxwell, Katie Brook, Lucas Kane, Jasmine Pisapia, Rodrigo Pavon and Lori Goldston. Katiana has been a member of New York City Players since 2013 and the director of the Incoming Theater Division since 2020.

Lucas Kane
Lucas Kane is a Brooklyn-based theater and film director. Most recently, he was assistant director to André Gregory on Wallace Shawn's newest play, What We Did Before Our Moth Days. Prior to that, he assisted Peter Brook on his final two plays, Why? and La Tempête. Kane's own production of Brecht's The Measures Taken was staged for thousands across Brooklyn and Chicago, in collaboration with organizations like Poetry Project, DSA, Interference Archive, Haymarket Books, and multiple tenant and labor unions. His films have been screened at New York Film Festival, FIDMarseille, Anthology Film Archives, Open City, Porto/Post/Doc, and many others.
